Donations

This should make donations to LUNGevity easier :)

The following was written by our cousin Julie:
(Thank you Julie for your love and support!)

February 3, 2009 Melissa A. Waller was diagnosed with incurable stage four, Lung Cancer and she passed away November 25, 2010.

Melissa was a person who believed in doing things that scared her. She didn’t let obstacles define her: She reinvented all the rules. She traveled to dream destinations and lived life to the fullest while fighting this disease. While in and out of the hospital she always managed to entertain her many visitors, making them laugh and smile. She inspired, educated and helped others selflessly through her blog. She was the true definition of a Spirited Warrior.

Melissa’s Warrior Quote:
There is a voice inside all of us all, Telling us to fight and to reinvent the rules. This Voice, this Spirit, lets us know the journey will not be easy. Whispering to us, “Become a warrior, and battle those things that scare us most. “Shouting, “This will not define me!” Reminding us to embrace, faith, love, hope.

This summer I was able to help Melissa research a charity that she wanted to leave funds to and she choose LUNGevity, please donate if you can using the link below. Thanks! Love, Julie

Our vision is a world where no one dies from lung cancer. A world that LUNGevity helped to create by bringing together world-class scientific minds, passionate advocates, and an efficient and effective organization. Our vision is to unite the country in one movement to end lung cancer now.

Our Mission
The mission of LUNGevity Foundation is to have a meaningful and immediate impact on improving lung cancer survival rates, ensure a higher quality of life for lung cancer patients, and provide a community for those impacted by lung cancer.

In order to accomplish our mission, LUNGevity funds the most promising research into the early detection and successful treatment of lung cancer as identified by our board of leading scientists. LUNGevity also supports the largest national grassroots lung cancer network.

We hope to inspire the nation to commit to ending lung cancer.

About Us
LUNGevity moves forward firmly resolved to provide the energy, inspiration, and resources that are critical to making lung cancer a national priority. Our goal is to Stop Lung Cancer Now.

In June of 2010, two leading nonprofit organizations joined forces to become one of the largest private funders of lung cancer research and the largest national lung cancer grassroots organization dedicated to ending lung cancer now. The merger of LUNGevity Foundation, based in Chicago, Illinois, and Protect Your Lungs, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, represents a milestone in the fight against lung cancer. We chose to adopt the LUNGevity name.
