I will be finding out in the next while whether or not I will be staying on tarceva or not. Most likely I will be switched back to infusion chemotherapy if the tarceva is found ineffective. I have a feeling that it is not as effective as we thought because I am not showing the side effects typically seen with this type of disease.
With the new chemotherapy I will loose my hair. So my question is: should I cut my hair short ahead of time to help soften the blow of loosing my hair? Or should I keep it as is and not spend the money to get it cut. The salon here at CTCA will do a headshave for free.
Let me know your thoughts…

Hi Melissa,
What I can tell you is what others have done, and in both instance they shaved their head. My brother did it and so did a teacher that works with Paule at school.
In Anna's case (school teacher) she did it because she didn't want clumps of hair to fall out. Once she did it she wore scarfs all the time. Her hair is growing back now.
I remember her telling us that many people see meet and saw decided to shave rather than allow patches to remain. hum what to do….
Remember; Looks come and go…it's what is in your heart people love
I know it's not what you want to hear but maybe it helps decide on “To Cut or Not to Cut”

You can pull off whatever look you damn well want to Melissa! You're so lucky you have such a gorgeous face!
How are you doing? I'm sorry I've been missing for so long but going through a personal tough time right now. I've tried to catch up on everything happening with you. Are you now back in the hospital again? I'm sorry to hear that – I know it's driving you crazy!

Yes, I'm back in the hospital again. I had another vertebrowplasty done yesterday on my T5. I start radiation Mon and start with a new chemo called taxotere. I'm not looking forward to either. How have you been?

Yeah! Another successful vertebrowplasty accomplished and I'm on my third day of the new chemo drug Taxotere. I was carefully brushing my hair this am to see if any was falling out (more than usual). My hair seems to be thinning pretty fast. I am going to try to go this weekend and get it cut a little shorter. I am in my cousin's wedding next weekend so I don't want to do anything to drastic just yet…

Hey Melissa. I just wanted to pop in and give you my best wishes and let you know that you are in my prayers. If you ever feel up to it let me know and I would love to take you to lunch.

My hair seems to be really thinning now! I went to get it colored and cut last night for the wedding this weekend and I think that will be the last time I do that for awhile. I think by next week I will have to shave it off . I hate this damn chemo and cancer!
